Is your company
turnover less than R5m per annum?
Are you a start-up company in your first year of business?
If so, then in terms of the
B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice, published by General
Notice 112 of 2007 in Gazette No 29617 on 9 Feb 2007,
·
Your company qualifies as an
Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) for purposes of B-BBEE.
·
An EME is classified as a
Level 4 Contributor to B-BBEE, which means that your clients
and potential clients get 100% recognition towards their own
B-BBEE credentials for every Rand spent with your entity.
·
Most businesses are
encouraged to procure goods and services from
EME's.
· Despite aggressive marketing
to the contrary, you do not have to incur excessive cost to
verify your status as an EME.
The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) has launched their B-BBEE Website and IT Portal
http://bee.thedti.gov.za, developed and maintained by B1SA. Registering your entity onto
the dti’s system is free, and they will assist you with a step by step process to obtain B-BBEE
compliance from your auditor, accounting officer or verification agency of choice
